The main waterway takes you straight through the center of the village. Depending on the season, you will either cruise at eye level with the porches or look up at towering wooden stilts. The area provides a direct look at the daily lives of local fishing families.

Stilted Houses

30 minutesViewed from boat

Traditional wooden homes line the waterway, built on massive stilts to survive extreme seasonal flooding. The dry season exposes the 6-to-8-meter stilts, while wet season floods bring the lake up to the floorboards. Visit between September and November to see the water at its highest level.

Village Pagoda

15 minutesSolid land

This local Buddhist temple is one of the few structures built on a small patch of solid ground. You can step off the boat to stretch your legs and explore the grounds. Dress modestly and ensure your shoulders and knees are covered out of respect for the community.

Floating Restaurants

30 minutesBring small cash

These eateries are moored directly on the water, offering a place to grab a drink or eat local fish. They provide a good vantage point to observe the daily activity on the waterway. Prices are higher than in Siem Reap, so bring small denominations of cash for snacks.
