Tourists enjoying a boat ride through a flooded forest

Explore

Flooded Mangrove Forest

Trade the motorboat for a small canoe to navigate this dense canopy of submerged trees.

The flooded mangrove forest sits just beyond the main stilted village. During the wet season from August to November, the water rises several meters. This fully submerges the tree trunks and creates a quiet aquatic ecosystem.

You must transfer from your main motorboat to a small hand-paddled canoe to enter the forest. This optional detour costs an extra $5 per person. The ride takes approximately 30 minutes.

Mangrove Canopy

30 minutes$5 per personPaddle boat required

Dense trees grow directly out of the lake to form a tight canopy over the water. You cannot enter this area in the main community motorboats. You must switch to a small paddle boat, which costs an additional $5 per person. Wear insect repellent, as bugs gather in the thick vegetation.

Wildlife Spotting

Ongoing activityKeep quiet to see animals

The submerged roots create a natural habitat for fish, local water birds, and occasional macaque monkeys. Keep your voice low while paddling through the trees. Loud noises will easily scare the wildlife away.
